We offer a variety of courses and workshops designed to prepare our learners for placement in the workforce.

Career and Personal Planning A 12

Career and Personal Planning A 12 is designed to help students develop goal setting and planning skills in addition to helping them explore career and educational opportunities. Students will explore four main areas consisting of a planning process, personal development, career development, and work experience. The nature of the content of CAPPA is focused on students’ unique characteristics and is primarily activity based.

Tourism 12

Tourism 12 is designed to help you explore the tourism field of today. It will help you prepare for a future tourism career. Students will be required to develop job interview skills, create a resumé and analyze employability skills. This course covers an introduction to careers in tourism, global travel planning, compiling a media file, local trip planning, and tourism related workshops.

Work Experience 12

In this course students explore opportunities for work experience in an area that is relevant to a chosen career. Students will be required to develop job interview skills, create a resumé and analyze employability skills. Work placements can sometimes be arranged through the work experience coordinator or the sponsor teacher within the local community.


At the Adult Learning Centre, we coordinate many workshops. These workshops are designed to enhance your resume, and are primarily for students enrolled in Tourism 12, however, there is often room for those* who wish to have one or more of the following workshops:
  • First Aid
  • Food Safe
  • Serving it Right
  • WHMIS (Adult Education Equivalent)
Workshops will be scheduled in conjunction with the Tourism 12 course. First Aid and Food Safe require attending a full day seminar to obtain your certificate. Serving it Right and WHMIS can be accomplished within a single class time (1.5 hours).

If you have not yet graduated, workshops are free, however, you must complete one unit of Tourism 12 in order to register for any one workshop.
    Students who are graduates are required to pay for workshops.
